Over Asphalt Waterproofing

Following a thorough survey by leading International Property and Construction Consultants Watts, the mastic asphalt surfaced decks were found to be nearing the end of their serviceable lives. Add this to the continual water ingress into the occupied spaces beneath and it was clear some form of remedial works were necessary before serious damage occurred to the reinforced concrete frame. As the UK’s leading installer of Triflex car park protection systems, Matrix were selected to install over 6000 sqm of Triflex deck coatings, a combination of the DFS and PDS-T systems in accordance with suspended slab and over occupied premises specifications. Deck areas were prepared to remove all dirt, contamination and existing lines, as well as exposing any cracks, blisters and surface imperfections. Following detail work to upstands, cracks, day joints and rainwater outlets, the main waterproofing layer was installed over the mastic asphalt surface.

Liquid Roofing

A number of the flat roofs surrounding the MEN car park were also waterproofed as part of the 12 week contract, this time using the Triflex ProTect system. The seamless and cold applied liquid covering was installed due to ease of application, particularly around difficult and awkward details, speed of cure and duration of guarantee.

Associated Works

In addition to the waterproofing works, the main expansion joints within the decks were also replaced using a proprietary mechanical expansion joint system fully compatible with the deck coating. A perimeter cladding capping detail was also replaced around the outside of the building, as well as a new anti-crack render system to the main staircore.
