Vehicle Ramp demolition avoided by Duoguard Proposition

Following comprehensive testing and analysis, it was determined that the reinforced concrete structure (particularly the vehicular ramps) was suffering from extensive chloride contamination. Site visual inspections had also revealed pitting corrosion to steel bars

Design Brief

The brief given to Forensic Engineers Pyle Car Park Consultants was to extend the life of the Car Park by 50 years as well as improving aesthetics – a challenge in normal circumstances.

Pyle conducted a desk top study of the various corrosion control options available, including Cathodic Protection, Corrosion Inhibitors and Duoguard Hybrid Anodes. The Duoguard solution was adopted primarily due to simplicity of installation, the ability to control corrosion in targeted areas only, and because the client was keen to avoid on-going maintenance costs.

Life care planning and Asset Engineering

Corrosion monitoring is also being adopted for future Life Car Plan purposes in conjunction with Pyle Car Park Consultants.
