Hotly contested John Street Project won by Matrix

08/02/2012

Despite being openly tendered to both specialist contractors and general builders throughout the UK, Matrix have fought off strong competition to secure the £500,000.00 contract to refurbish John Street car park in Stoke on Trent.

The catalyst for the refurbishment is the building of a new 650,000sqft £350m regional shopping centre and new bus station (following demolition of the existing). Hoardings for the new bus station were put around the old John Street surface car park earlier in 2011.

The car park refurbishment, which begins in February will see Matrix transform the reinforced concrete structure via the application of specialist and protective coatings to decks. These coatings will protect the structure against water/salt ingress as well as improving aesthetics in the car park itself.

In addition to the specialist protective coatings and concrete repairs, a new Ticketing System will be installed with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), as well as structural and traffic flow alterations to create new vehicular entrance/exits.
